Save Claude Code Tokens With This 3 Claude commands

Command #1: /clear

The first command built into claude can save you a ton on token and is powerful when used right. This command clears the entire conversation and is best used when you have just finish a task you gave claude and are about to work on something unrelated. Your CLAUDE.md still gets loaded, you just clear the chat history, project-level context is still safe.


It clean the current conversation history and gives Claude a fresh context window.

Command #2: /compact
The compact command summarises the previous context so claude doesn’t read through everything its learned and explored again. This can help reduce context bloat massively
Timing: compact work less effectively on longer sessions. Run when you finish a distinct phase. A healthy session produces better summaries for the chat


Command #3: /rewind
This is a undo action for your context. It rewinds chat back to before a failed attempt and removes that unwanted context from the chat. This is more effective that simply typing “That didn’t work” and letting Claude try a new solution with the ineffective action in context.
